Notes

Most books are fine, I like them.

Star Star are espescially recomended, Star are recomended if you like that kind of thing, Teardrop are only for people who are really into that kind of thing, and Teardrop Teardrop denotes books I feel are best avoided

Sometimes I read things more than once so they appear more than once.

I include books I read to my kids if I read the whole thing to them, if they read some parts themselves or if someone else reads bits of them I don't include the book in the data. Aside: Reading out loud to/ with someone is a very different experience.

Publication date (in brackets) is a bit vague, I'm using it as a proxy for when something was written so for eg. Fagels' translation of the Iliad is noted as 800BC (itself a bit vague) rather than when Penguin actually published it. Similarly for career spanning short story collections I've chosen the mid-point.
