Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)

Action scenes were good, esp the car chase through Rome. The bits between these were too long though, the plot is just the usual nonsense and dwelling on it only exposes the nonsense to scrutiny. I like these more than the Bond films but less than the Bourne films. Tom Cruise and his relationships with the women in the film seem simultaneously sexless and creepy.

(tangent: i read someones review claiming Cruise’s Hunt was “cooler than bond” which i couldn’t disagree with more, Bond as a character has many reprehensible traits but all those actors have objectively looked cooler in a suit than Tom Cruise ever has, at best he give off father of the bride vibes, at worst creepy wedding uncle).

It’s fine and i’ll go and see part 2 without hesitation but i don’t get the 5🌟 plaudits.
