Godzilla Minus One (2023)

Never seen a Godzilla film before. This was unexpectedly great. esp loved the period setting and the thematic richness it brings to the table. I’m always up for it when a monster represents something but is also just a really great monster (cf China Mieville).

The crew of the little boat are so expertly sketched in such a short time, I loved them all.

Whilst it’s definitely, firmly on the emotionally manipulative side of the line I don’t begrudge being manipulated by a film with such a big heart.
