6th May 2025 During the pandemic I played this a lot on BGA but only recently tried it out IRL. I had been reluctant to bring it to meetups having little idea about how to approach teaching it without recourse to the tool tips BGA offers. It was fine though and played pretty fast after a first bumpy game. By the fourth we were both getting familiar with the deck and each game felt different whilst still being competetive.

The experience reinforced that for me RFTG really is the best of this kind of card driven engine builder type game. Why would you stuggle through 3 hours of Terraforming Mars or Ark Nova when you can get the key elements of the experience in less than half an hour.
